Platos Verdes Privacy Policy
This notice is provided in English and Spanish with equal force (see §11).
1.Who we are and how to reach us
Platos Verdes is an education and content site about cooking with more plants, for Mexican-American families. It is operated by SRQ Interactive INC, located at North Port, FL, in the United States. Our site is platosverdes.com.
For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, write to us at info@platosverdes.com or the postal address above.
2.What we collect and why
We collect the minimum needed for the site to work. By category:
(a) Account. When you create an account: your email, a password, and a display name. Why: to create and give you access to your account and to contact you. Basis: needed to provide the service you asked for; we keep your acceptance of the Terms and this Notice (account_tos consent).
(b) Your quiz profile. If you take the optional quiz, we save your answers as your transition stage, any dietary preferences and exclusions you select (for example: dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, or tastes like “I like it spicy” or “30-minute dinners”), and the favorite dishes you’d like to adapt — all stored as internal codes, not free text. (Your health interests are separate and are handled in §3.) Why: to tune the type and difficulty of the recipes we show you. Basis: your choice; you can take the quiz without an account and delete your answers anytime.
(c) Health interests (optional and sensitive). See §3. Handled separately because of its sensitivity.
(d) Email newsletter. If you subscribe, we keep your email, language, and the source of the subscription. Why: to send you recipes and guides. Basis: your specific consent (newsletter), in its own checkbox, never pre-checked; you can unsubscribe anytime.
(e) Community dish submissions. If you send us a dish (“Send your dish”), we keep the dish name, your story, your name (optional), your email (optional), the language, and an adapt-permission checkbox. These submissions land in a private review queue and are never published automatically. Basis and license: governed by the permission to adapt your dish.
(f) Usage analytics. See §4.
(g) Purchases. If you buy something, payment is processed by Stripe; we receive and store only order details (session id, email, item, and amount). Your card details never pass through our server. Why: to record your purchase and give you access to what you bought. Basis: needed to complete the purchase you made.
Anonymous session token. From your first visit we set a first-party identifier (the pv_token cookie) to attribute site activity (for example, saved recipes) even without an account. If you later create an account, that anonymous activity is merged into your account and the identifier is deleted.
This notice offers the rights described in §7 to all US users voluntarily, without asserting coverage under any specific state statute.
3.Health-related information
Some people want to point recipes toward a topic they care about (for example, blood sugar or heart). If in the future you choose to save that health interest, we treat it as sensitive personal information: it is saved only with your explicit consent, in its own checkbox (never pre-checked), and you can delete it anytime.
We save what you want to care for, never “what disease you have”: it is not a diagnosis, not a medical plan, and we do not use it to give you medical advice — only to choose recipes and content. We do not share this data with any advertising third party and we do not include it in analytics.
Current status: this save-your-health-interest feature is not yet active in production; its explicit-consent checkbox is pending. We describe how it will work so this notice and the code stay in step.
4.Cookies and analytics
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4). On the production site only, and only when a measurement id is configured (never in development or staging). We measure aggregate usage (for example, “quiz completed”); events include no personal data and none of your health interests. We use no ad networks and no cross-site tracking.
- Cookies. As installed today, Google Analytics sets its first-party analytics cookies. We also use our own functional cookies, such as the session token in §2.
5.Who we share with
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not run ad networks or cross-context behavioral advertising. We share data only with providers that perform a service for us (“processors”), and only what is needed:
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Hostinger (hosting, with LiteSpeed caching) | Host the site | Access to data stored on the server |
| Stripe | Process payments | Payment data; receives your card details directly (they never pass through our server) |
| Google Analytics | Usage analytics | Aggregate events, no personal or health data |
| MailerLite (newsletter list provider — intended, not yet active) | Send/segment the newsletter | Email and coarse tags, when enabled |
| Brevo (transactional SMTP — intended, not yet active) | Send system emails (including the newsletter confirmation) | Your email and the message content, when enabled |
Your data may be processed in the US and in other countries where these providers operate.
Browser privacy signals (GPC / “Do Not Track”). Today the site does not automatically detect or respond to signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) or “Do Not Track.”
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
6.How long we keep your information
- Account and profile: while your account is active. If you delete it, we remove your profile, answers, and activity immediately.
- Inactivity window: our policy is to purge the profile and activity of an inactive account after 24 months (730 days) of inactivity.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Dish submissions: per the “Send your dish” notice; removable on request.
- Order records: we keep purchase data (email, item, amount) for accounting and record-keeping obligations; these records are not removed by the general deletion tool.
7.Your rights
We offer all US users, voluntarily, the ability to:
- Access / download a copy of what we store about you.
- Correct information in your profile.
- Delete your profile, answers, and activity (“Delete my data” — this cannot be undone).
To exercise them, use your account options or write to info@platosverdes.com. We use WordPress’s native export and erase tools. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Accuracy limit: deletion covers your profile, consents, activity, newsletter subscription, and dish submissions. Order records are retained for legal obligations (§6).
8.Children (18+ only)
Platos Verdes is a site for people 18 or older only and is not directed to minors. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. We ask for no age or date of birth on any form; when you create an account you confirm you are 18 or older. If you believe a minor gave us information, write to us and we will delete it.
9.Security of your data and breaches
We apply reasonable measures to protect your information: the site is served over HTTPS, access to server-stored data is limited to our hosting provider (§5), and payment data is handled by Stripe without passing through our server (§2g). No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a security breach affects your personal information, we intend to notify you and the appropriate authorities by reasonable means and within the timeframes required by applicable law.
10.Changes to this notice
We may update this notice. When we do, we will change the “effective date” above and, if the change is significant, communicate it by reasonable means. Each version carries an identifier that is recorded together with your consent.
11.Bilingual note
This notice is provided in Spanish and English with equal prominence. Neither version is a summary of the other; both versions are intended to have the same meaning. In the event of any conflict or difference in interpretation between the Spanish and English versions, the English version controls.
